SMS Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 — last updated April 30, 2026

Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") governs use of GiveLink's SMS service by nonprofit organizations ("Customers") to send text messages on the GiveLink platform.

Permitted use cases

  • Donor stewardship messages — donation receipts, thank-yous, acknowledgments
  • Event reminders, updates, and changes for events the recipient has registered for
  • Campaign updates from a campaign the recipient has expressed interest in or donated to
  • Membership/recurring-gift confirmations

Prohibited content

  • SHAFT content — sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, or tobacco-related messaging
  • Any content that violates federal or state law (TCPA, CAN-SPAM, state-specific consumer-protection laws)
  • Spam, deceptive solicitations, or messaging unrelated to the recipient's donor relationship
  • Third-party marketing — Customer cannot use GiveLink SMS to send messages on behalf of a different organization

Consent requirements

  • Express written consent must be captured before any message — via the GiveLink-hosted donate form or event-registration form opt-in checkbox
  • STOP keyword must be honored within seconds; honored cross-org by the GiveLink platform
  • HELP keyword must return contact info + a link to the privacy policy

Quiet hours

GiveLink enforces 9:00 PM – 8:00 AM recipient local time as a hard block on outbound SMS. Customers cannot override this; "Schedule for 8:00 AM tomorrow" is the only after-hours composition path.

Frequency limits

Default 3 messages per recipient per 24 hours; up to 10 with platform approval. Org-level daily caps apply (5× rolling 30-day daily average, 500/day floor).

Termination

GiveLink may suspend or terminate SMS access for any Customer that violates this AUP, with or without notice. Suspension does not refund prepaid rentals.
