Stripe
How GiveLink uses Stripe Connect for payment processing.
GiveLink uses Stripe Connect to process all payments. Each nonprofit gets their own Stripe Express account, giving them direct access to their funds while GiveLink manages the platform experience.
How It Works
- Onboarding — When a nonprofit signs up, they complete Stripe's Express onboarding (identity verification, bank account linking). Takes ~2 minutes.
- Donations — When a donor gives, GiveLink creates a PaymentIntent on the nonprofit's connected Stripe account.
- Fees — Stripe processing fees and GiveLink's platform fee are automatically calculated and separated.
- Payouts — Funds are automatically deposited to the nonprofit's bank account on their chosen schedule (daily or weekly).
Nonprofit Rates
GiveLink qualifies for Stripe's nonprofit processing rates:
| Method | Rate |
|---|---|
| Credit/Debit | 2.2% + $0.30 |
| ACH | 0.8% (capped at $5) |
| Apple Pay / Google Pay | Same as card |
Dashboard
Nonprofits can access their Stripe Express dashboard to view:
- Individual transaction details
- Payout history and schedule
- Dispute/chargeback management
Payment-Related Emails
GiveLink sends automated emails for key Stripe payment events:
- Dispute/chargeback alert — When Stripe reports a payment dispute, organization admins receive a dispute alert email with the disputed amount, donor name, campaign, dispute reason (translated to plain English), response deadline, and Stripe dispute ID. The email uses a warning-styled callout to convey urgency.
- Refund confirmation — When a donation is refunded (full or partial), the donor receives a refund confirmation email with the original donation details, refund amount, and expected processing timeline.
- Donation receipt — Every successful Stripe charge generates an automatic donation receipt with full transaction details.
Dispute response deadlines are time-sensitive. Missing the deadline results in an automatic loss. GiveLink surfaces the deadline prominently in both the email alert and the dashboard.
All payment-related emails use GiveLink's unified design system. See the full Email & Communications guide for template details.
